If anyone is looking for a great book to read, that sheds light on some of the worst circumstances one can endure, the process of Recovery, a denial and return to God (whoever you perceive God to be) and the amazing power of the human spirit to survive, then you must read "A Piece of Cake" by Cupcake Brown...
I picked up this book at Barnes and Noble. It was on a "Buy 2 Get one free" Stack. I had to buy two other books for my class and this just happened to be on the same stack.
Additionally, if you haven't yet - read "Freedom Writers." That's one of our assigned books for class. It's wonderful.
