What is going through your mind right now?
Well, I am just happy that I haven't heard anyone ask that question of Michael Phelps :-)

Irritation
So Jeff and I have spent the last few evenings watching the Olympics. We are really into swimming (Go Michael Phelps!) and gymnastics. Track and field starts next week, and that's what Jeff is waiting for. It's been a lot of fun, actually - especially watching the swimmers break world records and seriously, we just watched a couple young men nail their high bar routines. I was actually cheering.
SO why the title. I get really irritated by the interviews. Really, how many more times do I have to listen to some idiot ask Michael Phelps "What is going through your mind right now?" Grrr. This questions drives me insane! Can't they come up with anything else? ANYTHING would be better than that question. Like "Was the pool cold when you dove in?" Or maybe "Did you see any algae on the bottom of the pool" or "What is it like to race against a fellow American." But no --- it's always "What is going through your mind right now?" What do they THINK he'll say? I think I'd answer that question with the question "I just won my umpteenth Gold Medal and that's the best you can come up with!?"
Sorry about the mini rant (Jeff and I are laughing as we write this, so it's all in good fun), but I think I will email NBC and ask them to please tell their reporters to come up with something a bit more interesting for the interviews!
Until then - Go USA gymnastics! Have a good night... we have to go check WUnderground and see if we're getting a flood.

Mexico
Wow. It's been a few days since I returned, and I have been spending the days decompressing -- and trying to get some sleep. A lot of people have asked me how it was, and I am basically speechless. I can't really describe what happened (it would take too many PAGES) but I can say a few things.
1) I am blessed. I love my family, I love where I live, I have so much to be thankful for. Thank you Jesus!
2) Mission: Mexico changed my life. I don't know how, why or to what capacity, but I will go back with my kids from Atonement and continue to work in that area for the church. I am changed.
3) Mission work has allowed me to let go of some of the anxiety and fear I too often feel and stress about. I spend too much of life worrying. I need to stop worrying and instead thank God for everything I have and realize that my life is in His hands. Since returning, I have a new outlook on anxiety and life is too short to spend hyper analyzing and worrying about things.

Mexico Prep and other randomness
So, I leave for Mexico in 6 Hours. I can't sleep. I'm nervous, I'll admit.
Aside from that, we had a great week. Jeff and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary. 9 years already. We had a great night and really enjoyed recalling all of the things we've enjoyed, the challenges we've overcome, fights we've had, compromises we've made, 3 kids we have, babies we've lost, and the fact that 9 years later - we're still best friends, and a great team. We cherish that we are still so in love and thank God for the things He's given us and the lessons we've learned from the hidden blessings of some of the hard times. I can't imagine going through my life without Jeff by my side. I am so blessed...
The kids had a good week. Lucas turns 4 next Sunday and Lisa turned 8 months today - baby girl is 8 months... Wow. Alex is starting the two's - not so awesome - but a good reminder to us to take the time to listen to what he is trying to say and make sure we work with him on his speech. They say the two's are tough, because of the language development - add to that the speech issues he has as a result of the cleft, and it's making for a struggle. But we just keep encouraging him to talk - he's doing great.
Pray for my travels this week - and my piece of mind. Pray that God helps me put it in His hands and let go of my control/anxiety issues...

Updates
There really isn't anything going on lately to update about. I've been busy at work (which feels so good!) writing curriculum for this fall and planning events. I also finished the curriculum for Mexico and have everything pretty much ready to go there ... except for me. I haven't packed or anything remotely close to it, though I did get all the diapers, formula and wipes that Jeff will need while I am gone!
We're planning on a pretty quiet weekend with the kids. I want to spend as much time with them as possible before I take off on the mission trip. We had a good evening tonight - the cousins came over and I got to talk to my sister in law for the first time in a while! So - not much happening. Just enjoying the summer and getting ready for the next big adventure. But, Jeff and I do have our 9th Anniversary next week - can't believe it. I think we are going to try to catch TPAS's "Joseph and the Amazing Techniocolor Dreamcoat"
And I'll admit (scorn myself!) ... I'm ready for Fall. Really, what is wrong with me. I wait and wait and wait for summer and 6 weeks in, I'm ready for fall. Whatever, Andrea!
